Liverpool could earn £9m if Bournemouth sell Dominic Solanke, as the former Red has a £65m release clause.

This release fee, however, is “restricted to a select group of clubs,” reported Athletic.

Liverpool are relevant in everything because they still hold 20 percent of the sales fee. That means the Reds could make around £9m from the £65m sale.

However, any sale would be less than direct. Journalist Adam Leventhal wrote that Solanke’s £65m release clause “can only be activated by certain clubs”.

These clubs are unknown, but Leventhal surmised that “the provision only allows the leading teams in the Premier League and European leagues, who will also play in European competitions, to activate the clause.”

That would reduce the number of clubs Solanke could go to, with Bournemouth looking to keep hold of their top scorer.

Among the clubs reportedly interested are Newcastle. In January, Telegraph he reported that the magpies “asked about” Solanka.

Solanke managed just one goal and one assist in 27 appearances for the Reds, although that included just six starts.

Since moving to Bournemouth for £19m plus add-ons, he has made steady progress during his five-and-a-half years on the south coast.

After scoring 30 times in 48 appearances during the 2021/22 season, when Bournemouth were in the Championship, Solanke used the 2022/23 season to readjust to life in the Premier League.

His form is at an all-time high, scoring 21 goals in 42 matches this season. There were rumors that Liverpool could be interested in the striker, but their buyout clause has expired.

The forward was once regarded as one of England’s great attacking prodigies.

It was seen as a coup d’état to deprive Chelsea of the U20 World Cup Ballon d’Or winners. However, his time on Merseyside lasted just two years and included the aforementioned solitary goal.

With quick feet and a calm head in front of goal, he is now starting to fulfill his potential.

He was praised for joining England this summer and can perhaps be considered unlucky not to be included by Gareth Southgate.

Another strong season for Solanke and Liverpool could be looking at a nice sum of money coming to the club.
