CLEMSON, S.C. — It’s been a tough few days for Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. First, the 19th-place Tigers lost to Louisville on Saturday night, then he was told he wouldn’t be able to vote Tuesday at his polling place.
Sweeney, whose first name is William, explained that the voting system had prevented him from participating, saying that “William Sweeney” had already voted last week. Sweeney said it was his eldest son, Will, not him.
“They voted me out of state,” Sweeney said. “We’re 6-2 and 5-1 (in the Atlantic Coast Conference), man. They already fired me.”
Dabo Swinney had to complete the ballot and was told there would be a hearing on Friday to resolve the issue.
“I was trying to do my best and be a good citizen and go vote,” he said. “Sometimes, doing your best isn’t good enough. But you have to keep moving forward, keep figuring it out.”
